STRESSOR

Any circumstance that compels an individual to change his/her own way and perspective of living and adaption is said to be stressor.

TYPES OF STRESSORS

This includes more of our societal factors but not limited to frustration, work overload, noise, economic instability, traffic. political instability/insecurity, spiritual instability,  and marital issues.

SOURCES OF STRESS

Sources of stress can be categories into two major type which includes; 

1. External and
2.  Internal

External sources are:

Physical Environment: which comprises of heat, noise, bright light, confined space etc.

Social Interaction: Comprises of Rudeness, conflicts within the family(Nuclear and Extended), duress from the family and society, conflicts between the nation, and businesses.

Organisational: This comprise of lay down rules,  regulations, and deadline.

Major Life Events:  Birth, death, lost of job, change of marital status,  divorce, promotion, and retirement.

Daily Fuss: Traffic problems, and misplaced keys.

INTRODUCTION

Right from the time of birth till the last breath drawn, an individual is invariably exposed to stressful situations/occurrence.

The modern world which is said to be a world of achievements is also a world of stress   it is has been called "the age of anxiety and stress"  .

To enable good readability this post will be broken so as not to get bulky for reading...


In this post we will direct our point to the meaning of Stress based on wide range of the usage of the word stress.

The word 'Stress' is commonly used by individuals regardless of the status and position in life because life is so round up with different challenges.

DEFINITION

People define stress according to their experiences and understanding, some in their definitions will emphasize the feeling of anxiety, discomfort and tension while others will give attention to  duress and demand for change.

Originally the word Stress was first used by Selyle in 1956 who termed stress as the pressure experienced by a person in response to life demands.

These demands are referred to Stressors and include range of life events, physical factors, environmental conditions and personal thoughts.
